About
Patita Pavana das Adhikary, Publisher and Editor
Founder: International Institute of Indology (Vishwa Vaidic Vidyasangha)
Pavan’s Press is especially intended for those who have vowed as their life’s mission to faithfully serve Shrila Shri (108) Abhaya Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in thought, word and deed, whether the reader is formally initiated or not. To respect devotees, and the divine will of Shrila Prabhupada, contents of Pavan’s Press will be limited to devotional writings meant for the lotus eyes of bhaktas of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Shri Krishna. We humbly request our fellow members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness—both immediate and extended, whether formally initiated or not—to forward Pavan’s Press to other confidential associates who hold service unto the lotus feet of Guru Maharaja Shrila Prabhupada as the supreme duty of this brief spot life.
The Editor hopes that this humble attempt at glorification of Shrila Prabhupada may also reach some of our highly respected Life Members. Through association with Shrila Prabhupada, many of ISKCON’s Life Members have made tremendous spiritual advancement in Krishna Consciousness. Hundreds or thousands over the years have told me that they have learned to revere Shrila Prabhupada as the Acharya of the Holy Name for this coming Golden Age of Kali. Many have beautiful Shri Shri Radha-Krishna Temples in their own homes, and thus by Shrila Prabhupada’s divine grace have verily transported their dwellings into the transcendental groves of Vrindavana. Shrila Prabhupada gave his association very freely to many dignified gentlemen from the communities of Marwaris, Gujarati vaishyas, acharyas from the various Vaishnava sampradayas, aristocratic members of the old ruling dynasties as well as India’s political leaders who represent the Vaishnava community. Many of these great men came forward early into the introduction of Krishna Consciousness into the elite of Bombay and helped considerably in the construction of Hare Krishna Land at Juhu. Although many are no longer on this earth, we owe them a considerable debt. Due to the service of such devotees in the dress of politicians, kings, industrialist and religionists, we can conclude that such Life Members have achieved Vrindavana by Shrila Prabhupada’s grace.
The names of late, lamented His Highness Maharana Bhagavat Singh Ji Mewar and Shri Sadajiwitlal Chandulal Bahl immediately come to mind. In their lives they had extended association with the rarest of pure devotees, and by the blessings of Jagat Guru, who appeared on this earth for the liberation of all living entities, they have achieved the exalted platform of Krishna consciousness. Maharana was like an Uncle to me and taught me many things about the wonderful Krishna-conscious history of the great State of Mewar. I was saddened that he left this world before I could accept his invitation to pilgrimage to all the Mewar Char Dham, including Lord Shri Natha of Nathdwar and Lord Dwarakadish of Kankroli. As for Sadajiwitlal, this pious worshipper of Nanak and Julelal was likewise like an uncle to me. I had a standing invitation to sample his famous Bombay halva at his Punbabi Chandu Halwai shops, and I did take him up on that invitation from time to time. He showed me from the Granth Sahib how the ten Sikh gurus were all devoted to the Names of Hari and Rama. Sadajitwitlal was never seen without his bead bag chanting:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
My life as a young brahmachari at Hare Krishna Land was much enriched by meeting Life Members like these two great devotees. So it is our hope that the families of our wonderful Life Members like these who are drawn to Shrila Prabhupada’s philosophy of Krishna Consciousness, will enjoy finding Pavan’s Press in their mailbox from time to time. The Editor of Pavan’s Press will certainly enjoy hearing from Life Members who have special feelings of devotion for Shrila Prabhupada and his mission of worldwide sankirtana-yagna.
Correspondences e-mailed to the Editor of Pavan’s Press and sent in the true spirit of love and trust, as Shrila Prabhupada desired for the spiritual family that constitutes his many generations of followers, are welcome. As Godbrothers and Godsisters, members of the global Vaishnava family, we are united by the spiritual force of the greatest spiritual master of the latter half of the Twentieth Century. Thus our task is simple: remember, serve and love Lord Shri Krishna, always considering that the purpose of this human form of life is to go back to home, back to Godhead through sankirtana.
In truth, historians may well someday agree that Shrila Prabhupada was the world’s mightiest spiritual force in many centuries. That fortunate bhakta who adores Shrila Prabhupada as the master of his heart and soul is the luckiest living entity on the planet. For the faithful devotee, that force in this Universe that can shake his or her faith in the exemplary teachings of Shrila Prabhupada has yet to be created, and we pray together that it never will be, hoping that we never budge an inch from the safe haven of the protection of his lotus-like feet, as red as the blushing red lotus.
In a nutshell, it is the mission of Pavan’s Press to reach out for the e-sangha of pious souls all over the world. Since service unto the lotus feet of Shrila Prabhupada is the only true duty of this brief sojourn, one moment’s life in many millions of births, Pavan’s Press has nothing to sell, other than encouraging daily devotional reading of those volumes of Shrimad Bhagavatam and Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita for fifteen minutes each day. The spiritual literatures given unto this Earth by our Guru Maharaja, the veritable representative of Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasadeva, (including Shrimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, Teachings of Lord Chaitanya, Nectar of Devotion and Chaitanya Charitamrita, as well as a host of others) may be taken as the law books for mankind for the entire 10,000-year Golden Age of this Kali Yuga. Those who dutifully follow those Krishna-centered texts—whether in English or read in a myriad of other languages as translated by scholarly disciples of His Divine Grace—may be verily understood as initiated disciples of Shrila Prabhupada. “He who reads my books and follows their teachings is my disciple.” – Shrila Prabhupada
Pavan’s Press welcomes thoughtful dialogue from high-minded individuals, for sadhu sangha is our only hope in this smoke-covered age of confusion, cruelty and overall demonic leadership. Indeed, the association of pure devotees, even via the internet, is the only key to upliftment and subsequent salvation, especially in this sinful Age of Kali. Pavan’s Press will endeavor to hold itself above the dual blunders of gossip and fault-finding. These are the twin villains that steal away the new devotee’s mind from the path of Truth and Righteousness, the path of Krishna consciousness.
The literary ramblings you will read in Pavan’s Press from time to time are sent with due gratitude to all who receive and read it. Thank you for allowing my crude attempt at glorifying our great spiritual master to appear on your screen. Pavan’s Press will be e-sent freely and without charge from time to time. No political interest or affiliation is claimed by the Editor of Pavan’s Press. It was the divine order of our eternal spiritual master for his disciples to broadcast the glories of Vrindavana far and wide in all corners of the Earth. Shrila Prabhupada ordered me to glorify Krishna through the written word, and simply, Pavan’s Press is meant for the fulfillment of that order.
As a caveat, let me add that my only affiliation with any political party is that I am a strong supporter of the party of Gaur and His program of global warming of the hearts of mankind through His hari-nama sankirtana party. (Pavan’s Press supports the sankirtana party of Gaur, and not the political party of “Gore”.)
